Thank You

It’s hard to put into words how much the Blackhawks and the city of Chicago have meant to me. From the day I was first drafted to the Hawks, in 2002, I just wanted to make the team.

As the years rolled on, the goals became bigger and bigger. I’m grateful for the past 16 seasons to have worn the Blackhawk jersey. I was fortunate to play with many amazing teammates that became like brothers to me. I will always cherish the memories we had as a team, the highs and the lows. It’s been an incredible run. I’m sad it’s come to an end but being closer to my son Colton and my family is exciting. Chicago and the Blackhawks organization will always hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you to the Wirtz family for the opportunity of a lifetime. Thank you to Stan Bowman and the rest of the management team and front office for believing in me. Thank you to all my coaches I had the privilege of playing for and learning from over the years. Thank you to my amazing teammates for the memories, friendships and always pushing me to be at my best. Thank you to Troy and Jimmy and all the equipment trainers for putting up with me and keeping my skates just the way I like them. Thank you to the medical team led by Mike Gapski and Dr. Terry for keeping me healthy over the years.

Lastly, Thank you to the Blackhawk fans and people of Chicago for your unwavering support of myself and the team. I look forward to continuing to grow my charity Keith Relief in Chicago and helping families in and around the city.

A History With Onnit

_en_6468.jpeg

It’s been almost 8 years since Duncan first meet Aubrey Marcus the founder of Onnit. They connected after a game in Chicago in the 2013-14 season and the rest as they say… is history.

Duncan joined Onnit’s honour roll team as an ambassador and would be one of the highest-profile names attached to the health and wellness company.

Everywhere Duncan’s gone, you’ve probably seen him wearing something Onnit.

What is Onnit?

Onnit is on a mission to empower as many individuals as possible with a holistic philosophy regarding physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Learn more.

In 2015 Onnit created the “One day as a Lion” T-shirt that immediately sold out on the website. The partial process went on to benefit Duncan’s charity, Keith Relief. The unveiling of the T-shirt came at his annual Keith Relief Benefit Concert.

in 2016, Onnit featured Ducan in “Toughness is a Choice” video campaign. Watch the video below:

Aubrey would go on to mention Duncan in his New York Times bestseller, “Own the Day, Own your Life”.

Recently, Onnit was sold to Unilever and it brought a bunch of great memories back for the Keith team. Life has that sneaky ability to jump decades at a time and now, here we are, admiring the company Aubrey and many others built.

Duncan is appreciative of the opportunity to ride the wave with Onnit throughout the years and wishes Jason Havey and his team the very best going forward. Duncan looks forward to supporting as continuing to use his favourite products within the line.

If you don’t already, check out Onnit @onnit and Aubrey @aubreymarcus on Instagram. You can also listen to Duncan chat with Aubrey on the Total Human Optimization Podcast.

A Chat With Ronald McDonald House Manitoba

I had the chance to chat with Wendy Galagan, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities Manitoba to talk about what the charity does for families. It’s incredible that Ronald McDonald House Charities helps to keep families close by providing families with sick children support and accommodations during a very tough time.

Check out our conversation below and consider making a donation to help some families in need: Donate To Ronald McDonald House.

Emergency Keith Relief Fund

Aim: To support our families who are facing an immediate crisis due to the financial hardships of supporting a child with high needs.

This project consists of $10,000 of dedicated funds per year for OSNS families who are experiencing a financial crisis in regard to the care of their children. An essential part of our mission is to wrap our support around families during times of grief and hardship. We know, unequivocally, that children succeed when their families succeed.
